## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has recently completed a public procurement process to acquire a 9.4T Pre-Clinical Scanner, specifically focused on enhancing its research capabilities. This procurement, conducted through an open tender method, involves two phases with the current notice addressing only the first phase. The key dates include the award date of 23 March 2018, with the completion of the contract valuing £455,565. The equipment is to be delivered to the Chancellors Building in Edinburgh, under the broader industry category of education and magnetic resonance equipment.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses specialising in medical and research equipment, particularly those capable of delivering complex systems such as MRI technology. Suppliers who can offer the specific components, including workstations, software, and amplifiers, would be well-suited to compete. The procurement awards may further encourage partnerships for companies looking to expand their footprint within the academic research sector, potentially leading to future collaborations with the University and other educational institutions.

## Notice

The University tendered to replace the existing Agilent 7T preclinical MRI system, as it is necessary to maintain and enhance our research programmes. The tender was published as one package but is split into two clear requirements, as each will have their own delivery schedules; Phase 1 - workstations, software, amplifiers. Phase 2 - 9.4T magnet, gradient sets, animal positioning system, RF coils. Possible replacement of gradient amplifiers and water chiller. THIS NOTICE IS FOR PHASE 1 EQUIPMENT ONLY
