Lothian Health Board had a requirement to secure the services of a removal contractor with proven ability and experience to undertake this highly complex multi-site hospital relocation service. The removals consist of a variety of equipment and medical records ranging from office and general ward furniture to specialised medical equipment. The removal contractor appointed was required to demonstrate their ability to provide the necessary internal project management skills to ensure smooth delivery of the detailed and complex sequence of removals. This would involve a deal of flexibility and may necessitate working a variety of shift patterns including evening and night shifts, weekends and public holidays. The Board required the relocation of staff and services in a single phase move over a 2 week period to include all inpatient, outpatient, acute and supporting Administration activities..
