## Summary

Glasgow Life (Culture & Sport Glasgow) has completed a procurement process for a heat supply contract at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, UK. This project, initiated on 22nd June 2018, involved a total contract value of £850,000 and was classified under the services sector, specifically in recreation, culture, and religion. The procurement method was limited, meaning it was an award procedure without prior publication, due to the exclusive operational rights granted to the selected supplier, BEL, by Scottish Water.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses engaged in innovative renewable energy and heat supply solutions, particularly those equipped to utilise high-efficiency, low-carbon heat pump technologies. As the project leverages a unique approach to harness latent heat from wastewater, companies that specialise in sustainable heating solutions and possess the necessary technology could explore similar future contracts with public bodies like Glasgow Life. This type of procurement generally favours businesses capable of delivering tailored energy solutions that meet specific governmental sustainability criteria.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

Culture and Sport Glasgow requires to procure heat for the purposes of providing renewable heat to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum as part of an innovative renewable heat and supply project. The project is based on utilising the latent heat contained within the sewer water that flows in the many sewer pipes in the subsurface of the city of Glasgow. Due to the nature and composition of the waste water that flows through the sewer network, there is a considerable untapped heat source, contained within a ready built heat network. Through the use of high efficiency, low carbon heat pumps and innovative macerator equipment, that latent heat can be amplified to a level that will be able to interface with existing buildings heating systems and provide thermal comfort. It is considered not to be technically possible for a supplier other than BEL to provide competitively-priced heat due to Configuration and combination of the heat pump technology by have characteristics and functionality which satisfies requirements. BEL has been granted exclusive rights by Scottish Water and Scottish Water Horizons to operate on the sewer network owned and operated by them.

### Procurement Information

The supplier has sole rights from the owners Scottish Water to work in the waste water network
