The site is located on the Angus coast, just north of Arbroath. The properties are cavity wall construction that currently have electric storage heating in place. Due to there being no prospect of a gas connection at the location, the association have decided to embark on an innovative procurement method to secure a low carbon heating solution for their tenants that will last for the life of the RHI. Ground Source District Heating has been identified as being the most efficient option ongoing and the common areas on the site have been identified as having suitable potential for boreholes. Civils, Mechanical and Electrical performance specifications will be released to those contractors to enable the formal bid stage to commence. It is envisaged that this will take place between mid- August and mid-September.
