## Summary

The Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is currently seeking a sole supplier for the supply of trackbed blocks for its subway system through an open procurement method. Situated in Glasgow, United Kingdom, this tender process is currently active and was initiated on 29th June 2018. The deadline for bid submissions is set for 20th July 2018 at 14:00 BST, while the award period will commence immediately following this deadline. The tender involves providing four types of specialised blocks needed for SPT's slab track system, which consists of two circular routes, each approximately 10.4 km in length.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in construction materials, particularly those that manufacture reinforced sleepers or similar goods. Companies that can demonstrate the ability to meet the specific performance and delivery requirements outlined by SPT will find this contract suitable. The successful bidder will engage in a five-year agreement, subject to performance reviews, and potential sourcing of additional quantities, thereby offering avenues for sustained growth and collaboration with a key public transport authority in Scotland.

## Notice

The Subway, which comprises two circular routes (each of approximately 10.4 km), is a slab track system in which rail is supported by independent (i.e. no connecting steel bar) twin-block reinforced sleepers (blocks) located either side of a central drainage channel. Blocks are set directly in the surrounding concrete trackbed, with no supporting pad / boot. There are twenty three (23) standard check rails in the slab track system, with a total combined length of approximately 1 km. Blocks through each check rail are of a modified design to accommodate the check rail baseplate. Block design is further modified at locations where conductor rail and check rail are coincident. In summary, there are a total of four (4) block types in the system and SPT requires a sole supplier to supply all four types.
