ESF Funds are aimed at increasing economic activity and employment across the EU. The total YEI allocation for the South West Scotland region is Euro 112m. ESF Regulations outline that there should be two evaluations of the "effectiveness, efficiency and impact" of YEI. The first evaluation was completed in December 2015 and was conducted in-house by the Scottish Government European Structural Funds and State Aid Division. Delivery of the supported operations will be completed during the fourth quarter of 2018, with the second evaluation required by 31 December 2018. The evaluation will be informed by the Youth Employment Initiative Territorial Committee (YEITC), who will have input into the terms of reference of the evaluation and as well as its implementation.
