## Summary

The procurement process is led by Scottish Canals, focusing on the "Innovation Challenge - New Zealand Pigmyweed" project aimed at developing management techniques for the invasive amphibious plant found in the Caledonian Canal, Inverness. This project is funded by Scottish Enterprise and is currently in the Award stage, having been valued at £250,000. The tender followed an open procurement method and involved a two-phased research and development approach. Key dates include the contract signing on 3rd June 2019 and earlier tender periods ending on 13th May 2019. The project falls under the services category within the environmental management industry.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in environmental consultancy, ecological research, and innovative technology development. Organisations that can offer scalable, practical solutions compliant with environmental regulations would be well-positioned to compete. Additionally, firms with experience in managing invasive species may find this a compelling opportunity to showcase their expertise and contribute to a high-profile environmental project.
