Funding secured. ### Lot Information Lot 1 Maid of the Loch is an inland waterways paddle steamer which operated on Loch Lomond from 1953 to 1981. From this date she has been laid up at Balloch Pier. Since the mid-1990s, volunteers have been working toward her restoration. Main machinery items have been overhauled, and internal areas have been refitted. Originally, it was intended to secure 4 million GBP funding to return the Maid of the Loch to full steam operation and obtain a passenger certificate for 399 passengers on Category C waters. Regrettably, the main funder, the Heritage Lottery Fund, rejected our bid due to their lack of funds. However, other funders have pledged support and a revised programme can be implemented, valued at just over 1 million GBP and we are embarking on a phased approach to the refit. Following this phase one it is envisaged that there will be two further phases undertaken to see the ship return to service. The future phases will be undertaken as funds become available. This revised programme will allow part refurbishment of the vessel, and includes operating the main engines with steam powered from a shore-side facility and outfitting the restaurant aft and aft deck lounge to marine standards. Using this phased approach, the aim remains to return the ship to operational condition at a future date.
