The Tay Cities Deal recently agreed by UK and Scottish governments recognises that the provision of world class digital infrastructure is essential to the development of a thriving and prosperous economy and society with the Deal area. Some amounts of funding were allocated to support fibre asset re-use, wireless and 5G development as part of the Heads of Terms Agreement signed in November 2018. In addition the Councils have entered dialogue with DCMS over potential funding from the LFFN Challenge Fund to create a full fibre network connecting public buildings and re-using existing ducting and fibre assets to provide gigabit capable network services.
