## Notice

The successful contractor is expected to deliver a safe, exciting and innovative display of approximately 4 hours duration, comprising up to 18 display items as well as working to an agreed budget. The Client's expectation is to increase the attendance on an annual basis with a dynamic and entertaining day out. The Contract period is based on 3 years with an option to extend the contract on an annual basis by up to 2 years, to a maximum contract period of 5 years. The Client reserves the right to change the frequency between Airshow displays which would be notified in adequate time.

Lot 1

The National Museum of Flight (NMoF) is located at former RAF Station East Fortune, which is considered to be one of the best preserved Second World War airfields in the UK. Located in East Lothian, it is one of five sites operated by National Museums Scotland (NMS). The site, which is a Scheduled Monument, includes a world-class collection of aircraft as well as smaller objects that are related to the heritage of aviation. A comprehensive conservation, restoration and interpretative project that focuses on two hangars at the site was completed in March 2016. Planning and fundraising for the next phase of major development, which includes the installation of a new hangar, is currently underway. Scotland's National Airshow forms an integral part of NMoF's long term plans for engaging new and existing visitors, increasing visitor numbers, increasing income generation and promoting East Lothian as a tourism destination. National Museums Scotland (the Client) wishes to engage the services of a qualified Flying Display Director and Flying Control Committee to arrange and manage a flying display for Scotland's National Airshow which takes place annually in July. The successful contractor is expected to deliver a safe, exciting and innovative display of approximately 4 hours duration, comprising up to 18 display items as well as working to an agreed budget. The successful contractor must have extensive experience of: - planning and managing a complex flying display as part of a public Airshow in strict compliance with Article 86 of the Air Navigation Order 2016 and Regulations, and the Civil Aviation Authority's CAP 403 (current edition) Flying Displays and Special Events: Safety and Administrative Requirements and Guidance - providing the associated services required to arrange and manage a flying display including FDD and FCC, preparation and submission of all required paperwork and risk assessments (to client, display teams, pilots, and CAA etc) - experience of formulating and booking a flying display programme (using both military and civil aircraft. The contract will start on 1 September 2019 and end on 31 September 2022 (for the period of three Airshows normally in July 2020, 2021 and 2022). At the end of the contract period, the current contractor is expected to submit the bids to the military for the following year's Airshow before completing their responsibilities. There will be an option to extend the contract for up to two years pending satisfactory performance. Scotland's National Airshow has the following key objectives: - Continue to establish the National Museum of Flight as a major attraction in Scotland drawing visitors to East Lothian, by hosting one of Scotland largest and most popular family events. - To attract upwards of 16,000 visitors to the Event, including new visitors who may not have heard of or been to the Museum before. - To continue to raise the profile of the National Museum of Flight and increase awareness of what the Museum offers to visitors
