## Summary

The procurement process is being conducted by Forestry and Land Scotland, seeking services for "Forestry and Land Survey Work". This initiative falls under the environmental protection industry category and is located in Inverness, UK. The process is currently in the planning stage, with key activities such as the publication of the European Single Procurement Document (ESPD) and Skills Tests scheduled for May and June 2019. Additionally, the opportunity involves multiple survey types, including stocking density assessments and deer surveys, which will be split into several lots for tendering.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in environmental surveying, forestry management, and data collection. Companies proficient in conducting scientific surveys and assessments, particularly with experience in the forestry sector, would be ideally positioned to compete for these contracts. Participation in this tender could enable businesses to expand their service offerings, strengthen their industry connections, and contribute to sustainable land management practices.

## Notice

Forestry and Land Scotland require the following types of survey (scientific data collection rather than questionnaires) to be conducted: - Stocking Density Assessment (SDA) - Deer - Nearest Neighbour - Deer - Dung Count - Regeneration surveys - Walk-through surveys - Production surveys - Attribute surveys - Hylobius surveys - Drone surveys All surveys aside from Drones will require a parallel herbivore assessment to be run at the same time. Herbivore Impact Assessment This is intended to be a two stage procees. We intend to publish the ESPD and run Skills Tests in May and June to qualify for the second stage, which will include Technical Questions and the Pricing.

### Lot Information

SDA Surveys

for commercially planted crops - an assessment of establishing the number of trees planted at the correct spacing. Will be split into several lots for purposes of tender

Deer Dung Count

Deer - Dung count - self explanatory; provides data on levels of deer density. May be split into more than one lot for purposes of tender.

Walk-through Surveys

Walk-throughs are a high-level survey in newly establishing forest areas to determine whether a plotting exercise is required, and what kind of management is required. This data is used to manage regeneration and planting sites.. This type of survey may be separated into multiple lots for the purposes of the tender exercise.

Production Surveys

Data collection gathered to inform how much timber is available or will be extracted from the site.. This may be separated into multiple lots for the purposes iof the tender.

Attribute Surveys

Dtaa collection, using similar techniques to production surveys, used to inform our sub compartment database as to the species composition and stocking density and various other attributes.. This type of survey may be separated into multiple lots for the purpose of the tender exercise.

Hylobius Surveys

Hylobius surveys - assess the population density of weevils, and their distribution through the Forestry estate.. This type of survey may be separataed into multiple lots for the purposes of the tender exercise.

Drone Survey Work

Drone surveys and related work - most of the work will be a wind blow event, or a fence line needs inspected, or aerial photography is needed for mapping. There will be working in a forest environment, and there may be a requirement for specialist equipment - e.g. detecting fire risks using IR

Deer - Nearest Neighbour

- Deer - nearest neighbour involves tracking populations of deer moving through the forest and plotting this out.. Will be split into several lots for purposes of tender.

Regeneration Surveys

- Regen surveys - contractors will have to do stratification, and then conduct a plot based assessment on the amount and nature of any regeneration in the area.. This may be separated into multiple lots for the purposes of the tender exercise.
