Lot 1

This contract is one element of an eight month project to develop and transition Orkney's collective marketing activity to fulfil an increasing requirement for digital media and content, enabling a step-change in the external promotion of Orkney's four key sectors - tourism, food & drink, creative industries and energy. The market for Orkney's products and services is worldwide and while increasing Orkney's digital presence is a most cost-effective way to spread Orkney's message across the globe, there remains a requirement to target TV coverage nationally and internationally and encourage press visits which will result in coverage in both traditional and digital media. Traditional press and PR work have been a feature of the Orkney Marketing programme for a number of years, but recent years have seen an increasing number of new media enquiries requiring a broader, more dedicated approach. This contract will help meet the demand to manage press visits in response to enquiries and will also include copywriting for key websites and publications for Orkney Marketing. It will include responding to media and press enquiries on a range of subjects, recognising the need to accommodate visits by instagrammers and bloggers who would then submit regular work for use by the social media management contractor. Visits which will lead to TV coverage, and international press coverage will be prioritised.
