Lot 1

Strone Bridge is a Cat B listed masonry structures carrying the U94 highway over the Black Water which is in a deep, steep-sided gorge at this location. The aim of the project is to repair accident damage to the upstream masonry parapets and to repair general deterioration and weathering to the downstream masonry parapets, spandrel walls and drainage offlets. Given the listed status of the bridge all masonry works are to be in a lime mortar mix as detailed in the enclosed Scottish Lime Centre report. In order to carry out the works a full road closure will be provided. The road closure including all erection of signs, maintenance and taking down will be provided by others at no cost to the Contractor. Access to carry out masonry works must be designed and certified and erected by the Contractor to carry out the works. At the upstream parapet, the contractor must erect suitable access platform then take down the remaining damaged length of parapet and cope stone where damaged from the impact.
