## Summary

Historic Environment Scotland is currently in the Award stage of the procurement process for the "Interpretive Exhibition Maintenance Framework." This contract aims to secure specialist maintenance services related to the permanent exhibition infrastructure across the UK. The framework includes requirements for programmed cleaning, reactive maintenance, scenic painting, and the repair or replacement of exhibition props. The contract was awarded on 15 October 2019, with active contracts valued at £6,084 for mechanical maintenance, £5,490 for cleaning, £1,395 for scenic painting, and £1,658 for new exhibitions and replacements.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses in the conservation, maintenance, and tourism sectors, especially small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that specialise in exhibition management and maintenance services. Companies with expertise in mechanical repair, cleaning services, and scenic painting are particularly well-suited to compete for future contracts under this framework. As this framework allows for the replacement of exhibition elements, it creates avenues for design and installation services as well.
