## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has successfully completed the procurement process for the "BEMS Controller Upgrade" project, which falls under the higher education sector. The project involved upgrading 700 Sigma BEMS controllers across various university estates, particularly at St Leonards Land, Patersons Land, St Johns Land, and the Medical Building. The procurement process used a limited method, awarding a contract valued at £187,500 to Schneider Electric due to their accreditation in EcoStruxure and Sigma systems. The contract was signed on 26th June 2019 and is vital as the existing Sigma system is to be withdrawn on 6th April 2020.

This procurement presents valuable opportunities for businesses specialising in technical systems integration and upgrades, particularly those with expertise in building energy management systems (BEMS). Companies that possess certification to work with both EcoStruxure and Sigma systems would find themselves well-equipped to compete for similar contracts in the future. Engaging with educational institutions like the University of Edinburgh could open avenues for ongoing contracts as they seek to maintain operational integrity through modernised infrastructure.

## Notice

The University wishes to upgrade 700 Sigma BEMS controllers installed across the University estate and this phase of the EcoStruxure transition is to replace controllers at St Leonards Land, Patersons Land, St Johns Land and part of the Medical Building. The Sigma system is to be withdrawn from the market on the 6th of April 2020 therefore the migration from the Sigma system to EcoStruxure system is vital to ensure the operational integrity of the University's BEMS systems.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The University is appointing a supplier to upgrade 700 Sigma BEMS controllers installed across the University estate and this phase of the EcoStruxure transition is to replace controllers at St Leonards Land, Patersons Land, St Johns Land and part of the Medical Building. The Sigma system is to be withdrawn from the market on the 6th of April 2020 therefore the migration from the Sigma system to EcoStruxure system is vital to ensure the operational integrity of the University's BEMS systems. The proposed length of the agreement is 6 to 9 months with a value of 187,500 GBP (excluding VAT).

### Procurement Information

Due to the complex technical nature of the BEMS system upgrade, the works can only be carried out by a supplier accredited with certification to work on both EcoStruxure and Sigma systems. Schneider Electric are the only supplier who can meet this criteria.
