The directory will allow selected solicitors to receive nominations from the Council to act in this capacity, ensuring financial guardianship for individuals in need while potentially increasing their client base over an initial term of three years, with the possibility of extension. ## Notice Renfrewshire Council is seeking to compile a directory of suitable providers in order to facilitate the appointment of Financial Guardians by Paisley Sheriff Court to act on behalf of adults with incapacity. ### Lot Information Lot 1 Renfrewshire Council (the Council) is seeking expressions of interest from enrolled solicitors with sufficient relevant experience to act as financial guardians, on behalf of adults with incapacity identified by the Council as requiring such support, where no other suitable individual is forthcoming. Expressions of Interest shall be in respect of individuals (not partnerships or other incorporated organisations) and accordingly inclusion and nomination will be based on the personal qualities, experience and ability of the solicitor. A solicitor included in the directory may be nominated by the Council in an application to the Sheriff, who may in his or her absolute discretion decide to appoint the solicitor to perform the tasks and duties outlined in the application. Any expenses incurred by the guardian in normal circumstances will be paid from the estate of the adult on whose behalf the application has been made, at the rates identified by the Office of the Public Guardian and under its supervision. In exceptional circumstances, where an adult's estate is insufficient to afford proper remuneration, the Council may make supplementary payment towards the expenses of work completed, at its sole discretion.. The inclusion of Financial Guardians in the directory is anticipated to be for an initial period of 3 years with the option to extend for up to a further 2 years on an annual basis at the discretion of the Council.
