### Lot Information

Lot 1

Soil Association Scotland (SAS) along with our partners and other stakeholders, are developing a new programme - Landscape Lab - to empower people to inspire and enable positive change at a landscape scale and deliver impactful environmental, economic and social outcomes. Transforming land management in Scotland will depend on innovative leaders and diverse groups and networks working collaboratively to achieve a shared vision. The purpose of the pilot is to inform a robust model for the delivery of the Landscape Lab's objectives - to be rolled out as a larger scale charged-for programme in 2020. The pilot will use the theory of change approach to achieve its intended outcomes. It will work closely with around ten participants. Each participant will be chosen based on their capacity to make decisions that impact large areas of land and change at a landscape scale. Over the duration of the programme we will create a network and sense of identity between these individuals to motivate change, and to be visible within Scotland's political landscape. Our intention is to run a series of four overnight sessions in different inspirational venues, interspersed with support. Over this time our participants will move from having vague goals and aspirations, identified at recruitment, to a robust Action Plan by the end of the last session. (See Section V1.3 and Appendix 1 for further description.) We are seeking a Programme Facilitator to deliver the pilot. This will involve: Work with SAS to complete the development of programme activities to achieve the short, medium, and long-term pilot outcomes (see Appendix 2 for outcomes), working collaboratively to design the programme and contribute to outreach, general communication and reporting. Work closely with SAS staff and other stakeholders to: - Oversee and run four overnight sessions at inspirational locations throughout the UK with logistical and other support from the staff above, over the course of around 4 months. - Evaluate the sessions in this pilot programme to measure impact and inform future design and development of the programme. - Coach participants in between sessions (via telephone or Skype), focusing on developing their goals and aspirations into an Action Plan with a robust set of actions and milestones. For each participant there will be three coaching sessions: one after the first overnight session, the second after the second overnight session, and the last after the third overnight session. The Programme Facilitator will be responsible for the delivery of the workshops and coaching; and will receive assistance from the SAS Executive Assistant with the logistics of the programme, and the SAS Communications Officer with communications between programme participants. The SAS Deputy Director is accountable for the entire project. The SAS Deputy Director will be consulted on the project, along with the project's steering group. The SAS Deputy Director and SAS Communications officer will be kept informed on completion of key milestones (each overnight session, evaluation, coaching). Facilitation style and approach: we request that when working with participants you: - Explore the concepts of leadership and followership, with an emphasis on network leadership and the leadership of sustainability, as well as collective leadership; - Enable them to frame leadership concepts within the context of their own landscapes; Use an appreciative inquiry approach:- - To enable and empower them to find the solutions that work in their landscapes; - To take a strategic view of their landscapes; - To share their knowledge and experience, identifying gaps; - Focus on group dynamics, creating environments where participants are comfortable to challenge themselves and others; - Are flexible enough to create the space and time to extend important conversations and activities to best achieve the intended outcomes.
