## Summary

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is conducting the procurement process for the "Provision of Services: Radiological Habits Surveys," aimed at gathering data regarding local habits around nuclear sites in Scotland. The tender is at the award stage, having concluded on 4th February 2020, with a total contract value of £390,999. The procurement method utilized is an open procedure, and the services required will take place near various nuclear locations in Scotland.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those in the environmental service sector, consultancy, or data analysis. Companies with expertise in radiological assessments, environmental monitoring, or public health are well-positioned to compete for similar future contracts. Suppliers should be prepared to demonstrate robust experience in conducting comprehensive surveys and establishing partnerships with local communities to understand their habits that may impact radiation exposure.

## Notice

SEPA requires an experienced organisation to undertake 'Habits Surveys' around the nuclear licensed sites in Scotland as well as a survey along the Solway Firth. The requirement for the Contract is to provide the site specific habits survey data for use in defining the greatest exposure pathways to the local population (ie. a survey of those local habits that are likely to result in greater doses to individuals than the average local dose) which will assist SEPA in defining the representative person.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

Together with the routine Monitoring Programme the Habits Survey Programme provide the essential data for assessing the various doses received by members of the public due to exposure to radioactivity in the environment. The surveys will provide quantitative data on occupancy times and consumption rates of local food to be determined. These data will be used to determine the impact of authorised radioactive waste discharges on the local population. SEPA is required by the Scottish Government to ensure that no member of the public receives a dose of 1 millisievert per year.

Renewal: Options to extend for two periods of 12 months
