Lot 1

The Historic Environment Scotland (HES) estate comprises approximately 110 waste producing sites including visitor attractions, one off event locations, offices, construction sites and works depots with various waste streams including municipal, construction, WEEE and special / hazardous. These sites are covered by 40 different waste contracts and are managed locally by regional staff. It is estimated that we generate around 1,100 tonnes of waste each year based on bin fill level estimates. HES has a requirement to move to, preferably, a single contract allowing HES to have a clear picture of the waste streams to ensure a holistic, sustainable and cost-effective way of managing waste and resources. Due to the number of contracts in place and different waste streams the Waste Management Procedures will also need reviewed and updated to ensure compliance, improve waste services and reporting capacities across the estate. Initial market research has revealed a range of options available from the waste service industry. We require support navigating these options and developing tender documents that will provide the best price-quality for our unique operations. We will also require support to evaluate the tender submissions.
