Private Water Sampling

This is an award notice. Current legislation requires the Council to monitor Private Water supplies which is undertaken by monitoring and sampling these supplies. There is a requirement therefore to put in place a contract for the provision of laboratory services covering comprehensive chemical analysis, bacteriological examination and a scientific advice service for drinking water. This will be for chemical analysis and microbiological examination of water samples in accordance with the requirements of The Water (Scotland) Act 1980 ("the Act"), The Private Water Supplies (Scotland) Regulations 2006 ("the 2006 Regulations") and The Water Intended for Human Consumption (Private Supplies) (Scotland) Regulations 2017 ("the 2017 Regulations"). A UKAS accredited laboratory is required to carry out all of the chemical analysis on the samples the Council submits for testing as part of this contract.

Landfill Water Sampling

As part of the Council's license conditions for operating its landfill sites there is a requirement to chemically test leachate, groundwater and surface water to check that they are within set chemical parameters. The legislation that relating to this Permit requirement for operating a Landfill is The Water Environment (Controlled Activities) (Scotland) Regulations 2011 (as amended). A UKAS accredited laboratory is required to carry out all of the chemical analysis on the surface water, groundwater and leachate samples that the Council submits for testing as part this contract.
