## Summary

The Highland Council is initiating a planned procurement process for the "Provision of the Corran Ferry service" as part of a market testing exercise. This service, which is vital in Scotland, carries over 250,000 cars annually and faces operational and financial challenges that threaten its sustainability. The procurement stage for this contract, classified under general public services, is currently in the planning phase, with documents having been published on 8th January 2020. The Council's address is Council Headquarters, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, IV3 5BX, and prospective suppliers are encouraged to engage through a questionnaire to help inform the future direction of the service.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in ferry services, vessel maintenance, and infrastructure development. Companies involved in crewing operations, fare structuring, and maritime logistics could particularly benefit from this contract. As the Highland Council seeks input from the market, businesses that can demonstrate innovative solutions to ensure the service's long-term viability will be advantageous competitors in this tender process.
