## Summary

Perth & Kinross Council is conducting a procurement process titled "Award of 20mph Trial Speed Limit – Temporary Automatic Traffic Counters PKC11104" to evaluate the effectiveness of 20mph speed limits across five new locations in the Perth and Kinross area. The procurement stage is now at the Award phase, with the contract signed on 5th February 2020. The tender period ran from 5th February to 30th July 2020, falling under the services category with a primary focus on traffic monitoring. The awarded contract has a value of £34,280 and was granted to Streetwise Services Ltd, a supplier based in Cumbernauld.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in traffic monitoring and related services, as it involves conducting temporary traffic counts to gather vital data on vehicle speeds and volumes. Companies that provide traffic-calming solutions, traffic-flow measuring systems, or related services would be especially well-suited to engage in similar procurement processes, enabling them to expand their market presence through government contracts in the growing field of urban traffic management.

## Notice

Perth and Kinross Council are undertaking a 20mph Speed Limit Trial to determine the effectiveness of 20mph Speed Limits. It is proposed that 20mph speed limit trials be carried out at five new locations across the Perth and Kinross Council area, each of which has different characteristics affect the effectiveness of a 20mph speed limit. These will be a village, School site, town, residential core and village, including A class road. These different characteristics will allow comparison of the trial's results to be made in order to gauge the suitability of a 20mph speed limit. The trial will last up to 18 month and will be the first phase of helping to inform the development of a potential future 20mph strategy for Perth and Kinross. In order to assess the trial, we are required to undertake several temporary traffic counts at numerous trial locations. The counts will provide important information on vehicle speeds, traffic volumes, classification and direction of traffic. This will allow us to examine how different factors affect the effectiveness of a 20mph speed limit. Therefore, Perth and Kinross Council would like temporary traffic counts to be carried out at the locations identified.
