## Summary

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is conducting a procurement process for the "Plastic Waste Can Do Challenge," aimed at developing a tool for assessing the quality of plastic for recycling as part of their efforts to combat environmental harm. This challenge falls under the environmental protection industry category and is located in Stirling, UK. The procurement method is an open procedure, and it is currently in the award stage as of September 23, 2021. The initial tender submission period began on February 12, 2020 and closed on March 9, 2020.

This procurement opportunity presents significant growth potential for businesses specialising in environmental technology and waste management solutions. Companies capable of delivering innovative tools for quality assessment in the plastic waste sector will be particularly well-suited to compete. As the initiative aims to encourage industry-wide better practices, there is also potential for businesses across the entire plastic waste value chain to leverage the resultant solutions for both regulatory compliance and commercial opportunities.

## Notice

This challenge aims to provide a tool that would enable stakeholders in the plastic waste industry, including SEPA, to assess the quality of plastic transported for recycling and to discourage any activities that result in environmental harm. This challenge is being conducted as a Pre-Commercial Procurement.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

This challenge is being conducted as a Pre-Commercial Procurement. This challenge aims to provide a tool that would enable stakeholders in the plastic waste industry, including SEPA, to assess the quality of plastic transported for recycling and to discourage any activities that result in environmental harm. Waste plastic is usually highly compacted, baled and transported in shipping containers. Bale size is approximately 1.8m x 1.2m x 1m with some variation. Bale weight varies from approx. 200kg to 350kg. Although it is SEPA's intention to use the resultant solution for regulatory purposes, we believe that stakeholders across the plastic waste value chain would be interested in purchasing any possible solution.
