## Summary

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service has completed the tendering process for the "Award of Darktrace Service," which is aimed at enhancing cyber resilience as part of their digital strategy. The procurement, classified under the industry category of "services," took place in Edinburgh, UK, with the contract awarded to Notbinary Limited, after following the open procedure under the Crown Commercial Services G-Cloud 11 framework. The contract is currently active and was signed on 19th December 2019, with a total value of £336,999. Key contact for this procurement is Adrian Williamson, reachable at procurementreturns@copfs.gov.uk.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in cybersecurity solutions, particularly those providing monitoring, detection, and response services. Companies specialising in advanced AI cybersecurity technologies, like Darktrace, would be well-suited to compete in similar future tenders. The emphasis on compliance with modern regulations such as PSN/P and GDPR highlights a growing market for digital security services, making it an ideal time for firms focused on security management systems to engage with public sector contracts.

## Notice

COPFS' Digital Strategy places Cyber resilience at the core of our operations and strategic delivery planning. The Digital Strategy will introduce more internet and cloud-based technologies in support of business transformation and modernisation. The added functionality of these modern services introduces new cybersecurity challenges in an evolving on-line threat landscape. Ongoing compliance with PSN/P, GDPR and Audit requirements requires the continued development of security management systems to address new and emerging cyber threats and cyber security incidents. The replacement of the current monitoring contract provides the opportunity to implement a security monitoring, detection, response and recovery system more attuned with current compliance requirements new technologies.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

Darktrace is a system that adopts Artificial Intelligence to learn the normal network traffic and behaviour on the COPFS network and to alert and advise of potential internal and external threats and incidents in real-time. It integrates with existing and planned network and cloud monitoring systems to feed intelligence to a central COPFS facility (Security Operations Centre or SOC) that analyses, reacts and manages cyber incidents. Having engaged with Darktrace directly through the POV exercise, they advised that a number of other public bodies had procured Darktrace via the Crown Commercial Services G-Cloud 11 framework. Given there were no Scottish frameworks that would meet this requirement, we chose to follow this suggestion and procured through the G-Cloud 11 process via the Digital Marketplace.
