## Summary

The Improvement Service in Livingston, UK, has initiated a tender titled "The Use of Recycled Materials in Road Construction" focused on the services sector. The procurement process is currently in the active stage, with bids submitted electronically until 7 May 2020. The objective of this tender is to compile recent studies on incorporating recycled materials into road construction, aiming to enhance the Scottish road network. The total estimated value of the contract is £43,000 and was awarded to Winter Associates Limited on 9 June 2020, following the open procurement method.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in sustainable materials and innovation in construction practices. By aligning with the aim of integrating recycled materials in road processes, businesses can not only contribute to environmental sustainability but also expand their market reach within the public procurement landscape in Scotland.

## Notice

To pull together recent studies on the use of recycled materials in road construction, highlighting relevance to the Scottish road network. To identify new materials or processes using recycled materials worthy of further consideration and/or research.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

Organisations across the world are looking at incorporating recycled materials into more traditional products used in road surface construction and maintenance. However there is a lack of coordination and pooling of available information making it difficult for Scottish roads authorities to fully embrace and engage with new innovation and to avoid mistakes, some of which may not be evident for many years. The overall aim is to consider available recent worldwide studies on the use of recycled materials in road construction, highlighting relevance to the Scottish road network. The research will provide consistent advice and guidance to all Scottish roads authorities. It will also identify new materials or processes using recycled materials worthy of further consideration and/or research.. Proposals to carry out this work should be marked "Confidential" and be submitted by email to shaun.millar@improvementservice.org.uk
