## Summary

The University of Edinburgh, specifically the Institute for Genetic and Molecular Medicine (IGMM), recently completed a procurement process for the "NCA30904 Illumina Platform" to acquire the Illumina NextSeq 2000 sequencing platform. This procurement falls under the medical research industry category, with a contract value of £344,320. The contract was signed on 17 April 2020, and the delivery location is the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. This was a limited procurement method conducted without prior publication of a call for competition, allowing for streamlined participation from experienced suppliers in this specialised field.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the biotechnology and medical research sectors, particularly those with expertise in advanced sequencing technologies and related consumables. Companies that have capabilities in the product areas specified, or those providing support services for genetic and molecular medicine, would be well-suited to engage in similar future tenders. As the procurement was limited and resulted in a successful contract with a single supplier, organisations with established relationships or proven records in this niche may find future potential collaborations advantageous.
