## Summary

The procurement process involves the University of Edinburgh's Institute for Genetic and Molecular Medicine (IGMM), located at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, UK. The tender, titled "NCA30911 Olympus Microscope," has been conducted to acquire an Olympus BX63L MPE RS System to enhance their existing multiphoton setup. The procurement method was a limited approach, specifically an award procedure without prior publication, owing to the necessity for the new microscope's compatibility with existing equipment. The award was made to Olympus Keymed for a contract valued at £195,304, which was signed on 15 April 2020.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in high-precision medical equipment or technology solutions compatible with Olympus systems. Given the specific procurement criterion focused on technical compatibility, companies that either manufacture or can supply similar optical technology equipment would be well-positioned to participate in future opportunities. Moreover, businesses aiming to innovate in the medical research sector could benefit from understanding the precise needs of institutions such as the University of Edinburgh.
