## Summary

The procurement process is led by the University of Edinburgh's Institute for Genetic and Molecular Medicine (IGMM), which is located at Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, UK. The contract titled "NCA0912 Illumina Consumables" signifies a completed tender in the goods sector, specifically focusing on medical research supplies. The procurement method used was limited, involving an award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition. The supplier awarded the contract is Illumina Cambridge Ltd, with the contract value standing at £388,655, signed on 30th April 2020. This procurement supports the Welcome Trust Covid-19 research programme approved by the University of Edinburgh, highlighting a significant initiative in public health research.

This tender creates substantial opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in high-quality scientific consumables and reagents for medical research. Firms producing Illumina arrays or sequencing reagents would find themselves well-suited to compete, as only these specific products are compatible with the Illumina platforms employed by the university's Genetics Core. This contract not only fosters growth for suppliers in the genetic research sector but also encourages innovation within the broader field of public health research amidst ongoing challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.
