## Summary

The procurement process involves the West Dunbartonshire Council seeking a service provider for the "Emergency Contract for the Treatment & Disposal of Residual Waste". This contract is classified under the services category and is located in West Dunbartonshire, UK. The procurement method is limited, conducted without prior publication of a call for competition due to the urgent circumstances related to COVID-19. The contract was awarded on 7th May 2020, with a total value of £3,700,000 to Barr Environmental Limited, who will be responsible for processing and disposing of residual waste within the region as per statutory obligations.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in waste management, recycling, and environmental services. Companies that have access to a suitable tip site and experience with municipal solid waste management are ideally placed to compete in such tenders. Given the high value of the contract and the increasing emphasis on sustainability and compliance with government recycling targets, businesses in these sectors can enhance their growth and operational capabilities through participation in similar public procurement opportunities.

### Procurement Information

West Dunbartonshire Council was part of joint procurement for Reception, Transfer, Treatment & Disposal of Municipal Solid Waste ref :OJEU 2019/S 056-129582 for waste streams for the treatment and disposal of residual and treatment and disposal of bulky waste which was aborted and terminated with no award. In addition to the aborted procurement, the new procurement has been postponed by the restrictions imposed on businesses due to COVID-19. As it is highly unlikely all service providers within the market will be in a position to respond and even if they were, it is most probable that the Council would not obtain appropriate commercial terms.
