These services were originally tendered competitively and the contract award allowed for a 3-year extension, however, no allowance was made in the original tender for an extension period. A change of contractor at this stage would cause significant duplication of costs as much of the service provision will be covered under warranty and a probable reduction in effective and timely M&R support of this critical harbour system while a new contractor becomes familiar with the logistical challenges of attending often remote island locations and develops knowledge of the system architecture.
