West Lothian Council Education Services are committed to ensuring access to counselling services for children aged 10 years and up across all 67 West Lothian primary schools. The Scottish Government vision of having access to counselling services for children aged 10 years and above is being taken forward in West Lothian through the procurement of a service specifically for children in this age band attending primary school settings. By ensuring access to therapeutic services for children at this age, it is envisaged that supports will be enabled to have impact at an early stage to build resilience in children and young people for later life. As quality of service lies at the heart of planning in this area of intervention and West Lothian will be working closely with the service provider to ensure robust evaluation measures are in place.
