## Summary

The Scottish Natural Heritage is conducting an open tender titled "CivTech 5 Challenge 3 - How can technology help farmers improve the environment under their stewardship, and track that improvement?" This initiative aims to develop a farm payments system focused on habitat improvement for farmers. The procurement process is currently in the award stage, with the contract value set at £175,300. Key dates include the contract signing on 26 February 2021, and details regarding the project can be found on the Scottish Government's website. The tender focuses on services related to environmental technology and is aimed at enhancing biodiversity and climate change mitigation efforts.

This tender presents significant opportunities for technology and agricultural businesses, particularly those specialising in environmental solutions and data analytics. Businesses that develop innovative tools or systems to assist farmers in monitoring and improving land stewardship while evidencing positive environmental outcomes would be well-suited to compete. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged, as the procurement method supports collaborative innovation between public entities and private companies to solve pressing agricultural challenges.

## Notice

Scottish Natural Heritage is trialling a farm payments system on behalf of the Scottish Government based on the quality of the results delivered in regard to habitat improvement. We need to help users [mainly but not exclusively farmers] understand the quality of the habitats they are paid to manage, help them gather evidence of improvement, and analyse the data on improving outcomes especially in regard to climate change mitigation, carbon storage, and increasing biodiversity. In doing so we want to help farmers understand how they can improve nature on their land, and tackle the twin challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss. So how can technology help farmers improve the environment under their stewardship, and track that improvement? Please note: Scottish Natural Heritage will soon be changing its name to Nature Scot Please visit our website for information on CivTech and how to get involved https://www.civtechalliance.org/civtech-innovation-flow
