## Summary

The Scottish Government initiated a tender process for the "CiTech 5 Challenge 9 - Innovating to support NHS Scotland's Test and Protect approach" in Glasgow. The procurement stage is currently active, with a tender value of £65,000 GBP. The main procurement category is services. The deadline for submissions is August 3, 2020. Businesses in the health sector or involved in technology innovations suitable for supporting the health industry are encouraged to participate.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses to engage with the Scottish Government in developing solutions for health-related challenges. The procurement method is an open procedure, allowing a diverse range of businesses to participate. Interested businesses should focus on providing innovative and efficient services that contribute to the health sector's advancements. The overarching goal is to create a healthy working environment with robust testing processes, benefiting both health professionals and businesses.

## Notice

Post-Covid economic recovery means every organisation is now a 'health business' and this will manifest in ways that have never been required before. While there will be people who will need to return to existing work locations, many will continue to work from home, and for many others near home working at local hubs will offer huge advantages. It is vital that in all these locations people can go to work confident that they are located in a healthy environment where the chances of infection are minimised. This requires a testing process that is as robust, effective, timely and accurate as possible: we need to be able to [1] better identify who needs a test, [2] speed up the process of getting a reliable sample suitable for testing, [3] create faster test turnarounds, and [4] faster ways of getting tests results back to citizens and other stakeholders - securely and accurately. All of these things need to be useful to both health professionals, and to businesses. We are aware that it is unlikely a single solution will solve all four of the requirements, so we are happy to consider any proposal that has the potential to solve one or more. Across the country there are problems public sector organisations would like to solve and in the current environment the need for smart, efficient and effective products has never been greater. The Scottish Government is aware innovation is a good way to create them and is committed to ensuring a large part of its tech spend goes to smaller, innovative businesses. This is where CivTech comes in. The CivTech Innovation Flow is designed to create solutions to public sector problems as quickly and effectively as possible. You'll build a product, and a business to take it as far as possible. Because here's the kicker: the Challenges we issue aren't 'single organisation' problems - most exist worldwide. In short: open Challenges are set. Any organisation, team or individual can respond to them.
