## Notice

The Contracting Authority seeks notes of interest for a potential procurement exercise for the below requirement: The Advanced Forming Research Centre at the University of Strathclyde is seeking to purchase 2 off Inconel718 blocks for the manufacture of a set of upsetting dies. The required material size and quantities are: 2 off approx. 850mm x 710mm x 210mm, which will allow us to machine the parts to 840mm x 700mm x 200mm. The material must be in the forging and heat treated condition. Preferably solution annealed (927-982degC) plus precipitation hardening (720degC and 620degC both for 16 hours). The required Grain size of the material has to be in the ASTM range 6-8 and with a minimum reduction ratio of 4:1. The final material has to be inspected with Ultrasonic testing. There must be no presence of cracks and surface defects. A material property certificate including the mechanical properties (i.e. tensile strength and hardness) and chemical analysis as well as an inspection certificate must be provided. The offer has to include the delivery of the material to the AFRC in Inchinnan (Scotland). Potential tenderers who believe they can fulfil the above requirement are asked to note their interest in order to be involved in the potential pre-tender engagement.
