### Lot Information

Lot 1

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is moving towards equipping itself with a low carbon fleet over the next few years. The Service now wishes to gain a clear understanding of the capabilities of the market in terms of progressing this ambition, maximising its opportunities for securing future-proofed solutions and new developments in Fire Appliance design and construction. It will therefore invite suitably qualified companies to present their ideas and new/developing/prototype appliances, at whatever stage of development and implementation they may be, to the Service in individual pre-market presentations and appliance trials. Any potential provider expressing an interest prior to the deadline for expressions of interest stated in this notice, who can demonstrate that they have realistic routes to production, plans, or prototype appliances suitable for trialling will therefore be offered the opportunity to present these and where appropriate allow trialling of them in accordance with the Service's standard assessment models and methods at its Headquarters in Cambuslang. The main points which potential tenderers will need to address are: 1. Environmental impact must be minimised over the entire life of the vehicle and must comply as a minimum with the requirements of the Directive (EU) 2019/1161 of 20 June 2019 amending Directive 2009/33/EC on the promotion of clean and energy-efficient road transport vehicles "the Clean Vehicles Directive" as applicable to heavy-duty vehicles. 2. Optimisation of design in terms of vehicle design focussing particularly on adaptability to different roles (e.g. as mobile command post) crew operating models, crew safety, ergonomics, reliability, resilience, and performance. 3. Design parameters as follows a) dimensions must be no greater than 3.5m high whilst carrying a 1.35m ladder, no greater than 3.3m wide with including foldable mirrors folded back, and no longer than 8.3m b) water carrying capacity must be no less than 1800 litres, and foam drums will also be required, with a pumping capacity of 3200 litres per minute c) crew capacity will be five (four plus driver) d) the equipment list will be the agreed standard Scottish Fire and Rescue Service 18 tonne Rescue Pump list: this is attached hereto as an additional document e) the appliance must be designed and configured ergonomically around a 1.65m tall firefighter but capable of comfortable operation by persons of all sizes larger than this. Weight assumption is 90Kg per person.
