## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has initiated a limited procurement process for toxicology services, indicated by a Voluntary Ex Ante Transparency (VEAT) notice titled "VEAT Notice for Toxicology Services." The contract has been awarded to ICP Firefly Pty Ltd, following a tendering process that faced significant delays due to the lack of compliant bids, internal research timelines, and COVID-19 restrictions. The total contract value is approximately £75,000, with an award date of 21st October 2020. The main industry category for this procurement is education and medical research, with specific requirements for conducting a single dose toxicology study involving sophisticated techniques for detecting heart inflammation.

This contract represents a valuable opportunity for businesses skilled in toxicology services, particularly those capable of conducting GLP toxicology testing in compliance with ICH M3 guidelines. Given the urgency and technical specificity of the project, companies that specialise in toxicology and have experience with such studies would be particularly well-suited to bid for similar contracts in the future. Furthermore, smaller and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to explore opportunities within niche sectors of health and educational research, where competition is limited but demand for specialised services remains high.
