## Summary

The procurement process for the supply of an IncuCyte S3 HD/2CLR microscope was conducted by the University of Edinburgh, located in Edinburgh, UK. The project falls under the education and medical research sectors. The procurement method used was an open procedure, with the contract awarded for a total value of £88,166, signed on 21st July 2020. The procurement is complete, with the delivery location specified as Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. This tender process is identified under the award notice with title "NCA20975 IncuCyte S3 HD/2CLR."

This tender presents significant opportunities for firms within the scientific and medical equipment industry, particularly those specialising in imaging technologies and laboratory instruments. Businesses capable of participating in this procurement could include suppliers of advanced biotechnology equipment, particularly those focusing on preclinical drug discovery and high-throughput screening technologies. The presence of only one bid in the tender indicates a potentially less competitive environment, which could be advantageous for businesses looking to expand their footprint in the academic or healthcare sectors within Scotland.

## Notice

The IncuCyte-S3 platform represents the latest model from the IncuCyte range and is the first and most advanced brightfield or fluorescent microscope that can be placed within a standard tissue culture incubator to facilitate remote network access to image acquisition and image analysis software. This is also a trade in against our existing IncuCyte-Zoom system

### Lot Information

Lot 1

An expanding area of preclinical drug discovery is the application of automated microscopic imaging to cell-based experimental tests to provide detailed insight into biological mechanisms of cancer cell behaviour and drug response i.e cell phenotpes. Several collaborating research groups and ongoing projects within the drug discovery group at IGMM utilize microscopic imaging and image analysis of cell phenotypes and optical reporter probes including the use of the current IncuCyte Zoom platform from Essen Bioscience which represents an older model of the latest IncuCyte-S3 technology. A growing area of need within the drug discovery community is the application of a high-throughput cell-based kinetic imaging capability to support routine genomic (siRNA/shRNA & Crisper/CAS) and chemical library screening activities across multiple samples in a robust and timely manner.
