East Lothian Council and Midlothian Council intend to procure a service provider capable of delivering a service that will meet the following priorities: 1.Deliver a rehabilitation and mobility service for people with Visual Impairment with a clear referral pathway and agreed support plan with agreed outcomes 2.Make use of new and assistive technologies to deliver high quality communication support and maximise independence 3.Maintain a Registration and Certification service for visually impaired people in East Lothian and Midlothian. 4.Maximise opportunities to raise awareness of issues associated with visual impairment, both with professionals and the general public, through training, public events and utilising a range of other appropriate, effective means of communication.
