The EfW, which is being developed as an entirely separate project, and is not part of the scope of this tender. The main drivers for the project are: * Alleviation of fuel poverty - much of the proposed heat network area is identified by the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) as falling within the 20% most deprived communities in Scotland. * To deliver significant carbon savings to support Scottish and UK government targets * To support the EfW project in achieving its targets for the proportion of useful heat delivered and thus demonstrate compliance with its SEPA licencing conditions.
