## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has awarded a contract for a Vet School Vender Neutral Archiving System to Siemens Healthcare Limited. The tender involved the procurement of a system to store and manage veterinary images and associated documents. The contract, worth £219,800, was signed on 25th August 2022. The University identified the need for this system through market research to ensure the best value for their activities.

This procurement process creates opportunities for businesses specializing in healthcare technology and software solutions. Suppliers with expertise in archiving systems and healthcare IT services would be well-suited to compete in this tender. The University of Edinburgh, as the buying organisation, located in Edinburgh, UK, engaged in an open procurement method for goods, emphasising quality and price criteria in their award decision.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The University of Edinburgh (UoE) Royal (Dick) Vet School of Veterinary Studies proposes to purchase a Vender Neutral Archiving System, to be on-prem with software as a service as the best value option. The Vet School's current PACS system is not covered by a formal contract due to expiring a number of years ago. The current system in use is unable to interface with key technology resulting in a potential loss and misinterpretation of data and requires very close monitoring from the Schools IT Team. Not having a contract with the supplier is making it difficult to support, resulting in a loss of service. Therefore, the Vet School require a Vender Neutral Software Application to hold Image Capture and associated documents from cases worked on with the Small Animal Hospital.

Renewal: 5 years initially with potential to extend for 5 more years
