## Summary

Aberdeen City Council is initiating a procurement process titled "Market Engagement - Production, Supply and Distribution of Renewable Hydrogen to Aberdeen". This project falls under the industry category of general public services and aims to develop a commercial supply of hydrogen to decarbonise various sectors, including transport and industrial applications. The procurement stage is currently at the planning phase, with the interested parties invited to express their interest by the future notice date of 1st December 2021. The hub will primarily serve the Aberdeen area (postal code AB16 5GB) and has an initial demand target of 500kg of hydrogen per day, expected to rise to 3.5 tonnes by 2030.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in renewable energy, particularly those specialising in hydrogen production, distribution, and related technologies. Companies capable of establishing joint ventures or partnerships to facilitate the development of the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub will be well-suited to compete. The project not only aims to meet local transport needs but also intends to position Aberdeen as a leading player in the hydrogen market, potentially allowing for export opportunities to the UK and EU markets. As the Council seeks investment and delivery partners, there is ample potential for growth within this emerging sector.
