## Summary

The Dumfries and Galloway Council is currently planning a procurement process for the development of the existing water play area at Station Park, Beattock Road, Moffat, DG10 9HF. The tender, titled "Station Park - Water Play," is categorised under works and aims to enhance the area's play value and accessibility by installing a new sand and water play area. The planned budget for the initial phase of the project is GBP 60,000, with potential for a further GBP 10,000-15,000 from the local community for a second phase. This procurement process is in the planning stage, with a key date to note being the future notice expected on 4th May 2021.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses in the construction and recreational equipment sectors, particularly those specialising in playground installations and low-maintenance outdoor designs. Companies capable of providing inclusive play solutions catering to various ages and abilities would be well-suited to compete. With the project focused on enhancing a local recreational area, it may also attract interest from local suppliers and contractors who can engage in community partnership initiatives to maximise the project’s impact.

## Notice

Dumfries and Galloway Council are currently exploring options to develop the current, redundant, water play area at Station Park, Beattock Road, Moffat, DG10 9HF. The aim is to install a new sand and water play area in 2021, which will give the area more play value and increase accessibility to the area. The existing waterplay equipment, surfacing, plant room and railings will be removed by Dumfries and Galloway Council. The area to be developed is approximately 250m2 - if the play area proposal does not cover this whole area, the remaining space will also need to be developed as part of the project to fit in with the new design. The new design should be no larger than the current footprint. The new design must include a mixture of sand and water play items, at various heights to encourage inclusive play by all ages and abilities. It would be preferred that the new design did not require a plant room to run off, but instead works straight off mains water. A low maintenance scheme would also be preferential. There is no requirement for a fence, but landscaping/positioning of equipment should help to define the boundary of the area. The budget for the project is GBP60,000 for Phase 1. However, if it is felt that the project would benefit from further investment, a further GBP10,000-15,000 may be fundraised by the local community for a Phase 2 development. The equipment should be covered by relevant guarantees and manufacturer warranties. It is hoped that the project can be completed in 2021.
