## Summary

The Scottish Government has initiated a planned procurement process titled "SG Payments Project - BACS Solution", aimed at enhancing its financial transaction capabilities. Given the anticipated increase in transactions from several million to potentially 25 million, this project focuses on developing a new payments service to meet growing user needs. Interested parties should note that the procurement is currently in the planning stage, with a future notice expected on 1 June 2021. The project is located in Edinburgh and falls under the services industry category, specifically related to IT solutions for financial transactions.

This tender provides a significant opportunity for businesses in the technology and financial services sectors, particularly those specialising in BACS payment solutions. Companies that can supply Bacs approved software, offer comprehensive service models, or provide related IT infrastructure support will find this procurement relevant. Engaging with the Scottish Government’s payments team can help vendors understand specific requirements, pricing models, and technical considerations necessary to participate in the forthcoming procurement process.

## Notice

The Scottish Government handles several million financial transactions each year, but that number is expected to increase to potentially as many as 25 million as more powers are devolved from Westminster. In the years to come there will be a significant growth in transactions and currently we are building a new payments service to support this and to meet user needs.
