## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has completed a procurement process for the acquisition of ICP-MS Mass Spectrometers, primarily aimed at upgrading its existing ICP Facility and establishing the new Edinburgh Centre for Advanced Multi-Elemental Analysis (AMEA). This open tender, which was finalised on 25th June 2021, involves significant investment with each contract valued at approximately £319,958.56. The equipment is to be delivered to the School of Chemistry located at David Brewster Road, Edinburgh, Scotland. The procurement falls within the education sector, and interested suppliers were invited to participate in the tendering stage, aiming to facilitate a broader access to advanced elemental analysis tools for various users across multiple institutions and organisations.

This opportunity for public procurement represents a significant growth potential for businesses specialising in high-technology equipment, specifically in the mass spectrometry and chromatography sectors. Companies capable of supplying advanced scientific instruments and those offering related consumables will find themselves well-positioned to compete in this market. The procurement method encourages participation from suppliers with the capacity to meet the technical specifications and provide ongoing support, making it an attractive prospect for both large suppliers, like Agilent Technologies, and smaller firms with specialised offerings.
