### Lot Information

Lot 1

Fife Council is undertaking market research to determine the most appropriate procurement route to market. The Council requires to appoint a Contractor capable of designing a co-ordinated 'furniture and soft furnishings' package for a 36-bed care home; manufacturing or sourcing high quality furniture and soft furnishings to the agreed design and given specification; and fit with full regard to Health and Safety. Key to the success of this requirement is the ability of the Contractor to deliver a care home 'package' which will consist of project management, interior design, furniture and complimentary soft furnishings. The care home is expected to be open May 2022 and there may be requirements for 2 further homes in the next 3 years. (Dates may be subject to change) A variety of furniture shall be required, including storage solutions in bedrooms and communal areas, tables, seating and occasional furniture. As example bedrooms may require high backed chair, double wardrobe, bedside cabinet, chest of drawers. There are also Lounges, dining areas, corridors, cafes, quite rooms, day service lounges, smoking rooms, large meeting rooms and offices which shall may require furniture such as seating, foots stools, tables, dining tables, sideboards, sofas and book cases. All goods offered must be fit for purpose and meet the required standards, must be of good quality and look homely in appearance, consistent with what would be found in a residential house in a community setting. A mix of seating solutions will be used throughout the care home to avoid the routine use of 'stereotypical' nursing home seats. Notwithstanding this, all furniture used must be suitable for use in an environment where there will be significant levels of physical disability, dementia and visual impairment. All furniture must have suitable rounded edges to minimise risk of injury in the event of falls. Handles will be of a type to allow easy access for service users with disability whilst having a domestic/household appearance. A percentage of bedroom furniture will require to be dementia-friendly in design as a minimum of 18 bedrooms may require dementia specific furniture, i.e. clear vision panels in all storage solutions to allow service users with dementia to identify their belongings. All bedside cabinets will have a lockable drawer. All seating must have arms and any seating in dining areas must be on glides/skis for moving and handling purposes. Furniture used must support the needs of service users by promoting independence in mobility and contribute to minimising musculoskeletal injuries to staff. Soft furnishings such as curtains, bedding, lamps, pictures, cushions etc may also be required. In relation to dementia design, fabrics and materials should have non-reflective properties. The Contractor must maintain a supply of spare parts throughout the length of the warranty period and for a further five (5) years. Warranty should be provided for a minimum of 5 years against faulty materials and workmanship.
