## Summary

The Common Services Agency (NHS National Services Scotland), based in Edinburgh, has successfully awarded a contract entitled "NSSCOVID-19 -336 National Vaccination Scheduling Operations Support." This initiative, falling under the health industry category, aims to bolster the vaccination rollout in Scotland, addressing immediate operational support needs due to increased demand. The procurement process was executed through a limited method without prior publication of a call for competition, with the contract having a total value of £300,000. The contract was formally signed on 2nd February 2021, and the entire process was characterised by extreme urgency in response to unforeseeable events brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses that specialise in healthcare support services and IT solutions, particularly those with experience in vaccination operations or platforms like ServiceNow. Given that DXC was the sole bidder, companies with the capability to support rapid deployment and operational scalability in healthcare settings, especially in response to crises, would be well-positioned to pursue future contracts from NHS National Services Scotland or similar entities. The drive to enhance vaccination processes highlights ongoing demand for innovative solutions in public health, suggesting a vibrant avenue for business growth in this sector.

## Notice

NSS was commissioned by Scottish Government to deliver the vaccination solution for citizens in Scotland to be able to view appointments, schedule and reschedule appointments. The Scottish Government request for accelerated rollout of vaccinations means that there is now insufficient capacity within the team to resource all demand. As a consequence, team members are working excessive hours, including evenings and weekends in attempt to cover. There was an immediate need to have additional operational support to be able to support the immediate vaccination rollout programme.
