## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has recently completed a public procurement process for the "Career Hub Software," which provides a user interface for students to access support from the Careers Service. This procurement falls under the goods category and was conducted through an open procedure. The contract, valued at £56,613 and actively in force since August 1, 2021, is associated with the procurement method of direct award under specific Scottish regulations. The software will be delivered to the University of Edinburgh located at Charles Stewart House, Edinburgh. The procurement process was initiated with the aim of transitioning from a legacy on-premises server to a cloud-based solution by July 2022.

This tender represents a significant business opportunity, especially for firms that specialise in educational software development and cloud solutions. Companies with the capability to provide seamless migration and integration of software platforms, particularly those with experience in delivering services to educational institutions, will find this sector ripe for investment and competition. As the University transitions to a more modern infrastructure, businesses that can demonstrate agility and expertise in cloud solutions are likely to be favoured in future tendering processes.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

This contract is being awarded under Reg 6(4)(b) The Procurement (Scotland) Regulations 2016 - For the purchase of additional goods, where the University would have compatibility issues or disproportionate technical difficulties in purchasing from a party other than original supplier There is a unique combination of issues that prevented a competitive process being completed earlier than is now planned to take place: There is a hard milestone for the legacy on-premises server which is out of support in July 2022 The new version of current software will not run on the legacy server so to ensure software is kept up-to-date, not least for security, the software is moving off premises to a cloud version The first year of this contract is moving to the cloud, removing the imminent end-of-life server issue while maintaining Business As Usual for staff and service users during a period of uncertainty of staffing levels during pandemic. The second year of this contract (Aug 2022 to July 2023) will run alongside a competitive tender and implementation process for contract beyond July 2023
