## Summary

The Scottish Government is seeking legal services to support its response to the Covid-19 public inquiries through the tender titled "Award of Assistance with Response to Covid Inquiries." This procurement falls under the services industry category and is located in Scotland. The tender period commenced on 24 January 2022 and will conclude on 23 January 2025. Currently, the procurement is in the award stage, with a contract signed on 21 January 2022 valued at GBP 250,000. The procurement method employed in this process is a tender, allowing for competitive bidding from qualified suppliers.

This opportunity presents significant growth potential for legal firms and consultancy businesses with expertise in public inquiry processes, particularly those experienced in public sector legal services. Firms that can demonstrate a strong understanding of legal frameworks and the procurement landscape will be well-positioned to compete. Suppliers should be prepared to provide flexible legal support and to contribute to the narrative surrounding key decision-making during the pandemic response.

## Notice

The Service Provider's role is to provide legal services, as and when called upon by Scottish Government, to supplement the ongoing legal services provided by the Scottish Government Legal Department (SGLD) to the Scottish Government's response to the Scottish and UK public inquiries into the handling of Covid-19. At the tendering stage the Terms of Reference of neither public inquiries are known, nor the intentions of both inquiry teams as to information and evidence that they require from the Scottish Government. However, it is expected that the Service Provider will be required in the short term to assist in the preparation of statements from key SG staff for the purpose of assisting the preparation within SG of descriptions and narratives about key decision making during the handling of the response to the pandemic.
