## Summary

CalMac Ferries Limited is initiating a procurement process for the supply of a diesel fuel additive aimed at reducing emissions and diesel fuel consumption. The procurement is classified under goods, specifically within the transport industry framework for ferry operations. This planning stage notice was issued on 4 March 2022 and is set to attract submissions for trial data and product specifications. Interested suppliers should note that a future notice date is anticipated for 1 August 2022, with the delivery location specified as the West Coast of Scotland.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in the development and supply of fuel additives, particularly those with experience in real-world applications in heavy diesel transport. Suppliers who can demonstrate proven efficacy of their products through trial data and extensive market use in similar transport environments would find themselves well-positioned to compete. Companies focused on innovation in fuel efficiency and environmental sustainability are especially encouraged to participate, given the buyer's commitment to reducing emissions in their operations.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

CalMac Ferries Limited (CFL) are proposing to introduce use of a diesel fuel additive to reduce emissions and diesel fuel consumption. Given the nascent state of this market and the types of products available, along with ensuring any product does not impact on vessel reliability, potential suppliers will be required to provide trial data (of use in 'real-world' diesel engines) and evidence of current, active, use of the additive in a heavy (bulk fuel) diesel transport environment. This Prior Information Notice is to establish products available on the market that would achieve this. The product specification is to be a combination of a Fuel Borne Catalyst (FBC) based on Cerium Oxide with the addition of a deposit control additive (DCA). Suppliers should record their interest and should they do so they will be contacted to provide the following: - Details of chemical makeup of the product, details of the active ingredients and method of chemical reaction / action that provides the benefits - Full details of 'real-world' trial data (outside a laboratory) including method of trial, type of engine utilised, type of vessel (or other heavy transport vehicle), results of trial including evidence of emissions reductions and fuel consumption reduction - Details of current market use and market experience in active heavy diesel transport vehicles (Marine or similar)
