## Summary

The procurement process for the "Supply and Delivery of Telecare Equipment" was conducted by South Lanarkshire Council, located in Hamilton, UK. This initiative falls under the Social Protection category and is part of the digital transformation required in telecommunication services, with the need for new digital alarm units highlighted. The tender was awarded on 20 April 2022, following a selective procurement method, specifically a restricted procedure. The purchasing phase has been completed with a contract value of £1,136,900 for the period ending 31 December 2019, extendable until December 2022.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in telecare and digital telecommunications equipment. Suppliers that have expertise in providing innovative, technology-enabled solutions are likely to be well-placed to compete. Given the increasing reliance on digital technology in public services, companies that have the capability to deliver high-quality telecare systems could thrive in this evolving market. The partnership with Careium illustrates the potential for SMEs and firms familiar with the relevant frameworks to engage successfully in similar procurement processes.

## Notice

As telecommunication companies move to newer digital technology which can support both broadband and telephone services, the public switched telephone network (PSTN) will be switched off. Whilst the deadline for this being completed is 2025, all telecommunication companies are already engaged in the process of upgrading their networks and many, if not all, already offer digital telephony packages. In order to comply with the digital technology, the Council require to purchase digital alarm units for installation in service users homes which will be carried out in a phased approach.
